Rethymno is the ideal place for summer holidays since it has many beautiful clean beaches. You can visit amazing sandy beaches in both the northern (Cretan Sea) and the southern part of the region (Libyan Sea).

Some of the most beautiful beaches are the following:

Rethymno Beach
Twenty-kilometre sandy beach with all the facilities, extending from the city of Rethymno to Perivoli, Platanes, Adelianos Kampos, Scaletta.

Episkopi Beach
Long sandy beach west of the city of Rethymno, with some seafront facilities.

Panormo
At Panormo beach, 20 km east of the city of Rethymno, you can enjoy swimming at a nice beach with water sports facilities and sunbeds, eat at the local taverns and stay at hotels or rooms to let.

Bali
In Bali Bay, 34 km east of Rethymno, the visitor can enjoy swimming in any of the small beaches with facilities available at the beach. In the area, there are many taverns, hotels and rooms to let.

Plakias
Plakias is located 40 km south of Rethymno; it is a tourist destination with wonderful sandy beaches, hotels, rooms to let, taverns and restaurants. At the beach, you can not only swim but also do water activities on the water.

Souda Plakias
Sandy beach west of the village of Plakias. Near this beach that offers sunbeds and umbrellas, there are rooms to let and a few taverns.

Damnoni
Sandy beach west of Plakias and south of Rethymno with rooms to let and a few taverns.

Ammoudi
Small sandy beach near Damnoni, almost secluded.

Preveli Lake
Almost 38 km south of Rethymno, near the Monastery of Preveli, you drive on an off-road route and then you walk for about 15 minutes until you reach a fantastic sandy beach with palm trees, at the end of Kourtaliotis river.

Triopetra
Triopetra beach took its name from three imposing stones; it is located approximately 50 km south of Rethymno. You can visit the beach if you take the road to Agia Galini and after 40 km you turn to Akoumia village. It is a huge sandy beach, with a few sunbeds and umbrellas, almost secluded.

Agios Pavlos
Fifty-eight kilometres south of Rethymno you will find the wonderful sandy beach of Agios Pavlos. You take the road to Agia Galini and after 46 km, at the village of Kria Vrisi, you turn right and you continue towards the sea. Swimming at the beach surrounded by rocks and dunes is a unique experience. In the village, there are rooms to let and taverns.

Agia Galini
Agia Galini is situated 58 km south to Rethymno. There are lots of beach facilities and wonderful clear beaches in the small picturesque fishing ports.

Korakas
It is located 42 km south of Rethymno, at Rodakino village. Korakas beach is sandy with seafront facilities, hotels, rooms to let and taverns.
